Bottling your Kombucha

When bottling up that fresh batch of kombucha make sure you are using the correct bottles, failure to do so could lead to a huge mess or even worse someone getting hurt from the bottle exploding.

There are many Kombucha-bottling “Do’s and Don’ts”. These include, but are not limited to:

-Do use glass, ceramic, or porcelain materials

– Do use round bottles as the pressure is evenly distributed around the surface area of the bottle

-Do leave about an inch gap of air from the top to allow pressure to build

-Don’t use square bottle as the pressure is not evenly distributed and could easily explode on any weakpoint of the bottle

-Don’t use any type of metal, crystal or plastic container as the acidity of the kombucha can react

-Don’t fill all the way to the top as this will not leave enough room for pressure and could lead to the bottle exploding

-Don’t shake kombucha! It is pressurized and can explode

Many people who are just starting out, and sometimes even well-seasoned Kombucha crafters make these mistakes; at least once!
